Un Desierto Para La Ciudad
Vast, desert, ubiquitous, distant. Cities and nations are founded on the myth of a victory over that void, which is the foundation of their autonomy and exclusion. Urban space is the result of multiple movements: of energies, of human and non-human beings, of flows and materials that tend towards fixation. These draw choreographies, sometimes ephemeral, sometimes permanent. What is this thing, out there, that sustains the cities we inhabit? "Un Desierto Para la Ciudad" was a collective exhibition and an open conversation that brought together artists, designers, architects, photographers, who, through various materials, supports, and media - archive, painting, granite, photography, aluminum, filament, clay, video, printing, grass - sensitively approached the question of displacement, the inside and outside of a mode of production.
